The next stage of Pinjarra Road upgrades will kick off in the coming weeks, with Stage 7 set to improve safety and useability of the intersection at Anstruther Road.

Works will focus on road rehabilitation, resurfacing, and installing an improved traffic light system to deliver a smoother experience for road users.

Upgrades to the traffic lights are funded under the Australian Government Black Spot Program, and will include additional right turn signals from both the north and south ends of Anstruther Road.

Rehabilitation works will see new concrete kerbing installed, as well as footpaths and finishing works.

Stage 7 works follow on from the successful completion of Stages 5 and 6 earlier this year, which saw upgrades to the road between Foulkes Place and Sutton Street.

Timeline for works

Construction will begin in early November, with works expected to be completed by June 2026.

Traffic management

Traffic management will be implemented to ensure the safety of staff and road users during the works.

The first section of works, commencing early November 2025 until mid-February 2026, includes the directional closure of Pinjarra Road between France St and Randel St, with single lane traffic flow to be maintained in both directions via a contraflow within the Eastbound carriageway. Access to Pinjarra Road from Anstruther Road (both north and south) will be restricted. Anstruther Road north will remain open with restricted left in, left out movements.

The second section is then due to be completed early June 2026 and requires a restriction of Anstruther Road between Lanyon Street and Pinjarra Road, in conjunction with the directional closure of Pinjarra Road between France Street and Randel Street, with single lane traffic flow maintained in both directions via a contraflow within the recently upgraded Westbound carriageway. Anstruther Road south will remain open with restricted left in, left out movements.

Traffic signals will be inactive for the duration of the project with all traffic management detours controlled via signage.

Access to local residences and businesses will be available, however, there may be instances where short delays are incurred.

Detailed road closures, including traffic flow maps, will be made available on the City of Mandurah website as the project progresses.
